Villebois Article in Wilsonville Spokesman

February 25th, 2010 agreen Posted in Costa Pacific, Villebois On The Web 2 Comments »

Allow me to vent for just a minute.

I recently read an article written by a local journalist in Wilsonville, Ore..  It discussed a new builder, Polygon NW, showing interest in building  homes in Villebois.  I think that is great news!  What I do not care for in the article is how the author tries to portray Villebois as “the recently troubled master planned community”.  I guess that he is entitled to his opinion but I think that his opinion is no where near reality.  There is no doubt that permits are no where near where they were in 2005 but let’s put this picture into perspective.

Lets take a minute to recap 2009

60 homes were sold in Villebois

47 new homes sold

Villebois won 9 national awards through the National Association of Home Builder

4 Gold Awards

5 Silver Awards

Named Community of the Year (that is throughout the nation, also called the United States of America)

For a “troubled development” 2009  shaped up to be a pretty good year considering the circumstances.  Villebois was the top selling community for new homes in the Portland real estate market and was named the top community in the nation.

Yes, we are in the midst, if not close to the end, of the biggest economic turmoil that this great country has ever experienced.  Instead of playing on peoples fear why don’t journalists try to spread a little bit of good news when it happens or better yet try to find the good in a situation.  People like good news sometimes too.

Maybe that doesn’t sell newspapers.

Villebois Hosts Dreyer’s Slow Churned® Neighborhood Salute Ice Cream Party This Weekend

August 11th, 2009 agreen Posted in Community Involvement, Events, Village Center, Villebois On The Web Comments Off

Dreyer’s Ice Cream recently hosted its Slow Churned® Neighborhood Salute ice cream party contest, and the award-winning Villebois community in Wilsonville, Ore. was selected as a Grand Prize winner TWICE out of hundreds of thousands of neighborhoods from across the nation. The neighborhood-wide ice cream social will be held at 7 p.m. on Aug. 15 in Sofia Park at the heart of the Villebois neighborhood.

Earlier this Spring, Villebois residents submitted essays to Dreyer’s, nominating their community and explaining why Villebois should be selected to win FREE Dreyer’s Slow Churned® Light ice cream and a Party in a Box with all the necessary supplies to host a summer block party for friends and neighbors. Two Villebois residents, Andy Green and Allison Sherman, submitted well-written essays that were selected by Dreyer’s amongst this year’s winners.

Both Green and Sherman received disposable cameras, ice cream scoops and paper products supplied by Dreyer’s in their Party in a Box. The popular ice cream company has requested the cameras be used to chronicle the event with photos that can be posted by Dreyer’s on their website.

“While we residents knew it all along, we are excited that Dreyer’s recognized what a wonderful community Villebois is by awarding us with this party,” says Green. “I can’t think of a better way to bring neighbors and families together than over a bowl of ice cream.”

Located just south of Portland, Ore., the Villebois neighborhood is a transit-oriented, master-planned community that will eventually host 2,600 single- and multi-family homes, more than 35,000 square feet of retail space and 160 acres of parks and communal green space.

The Villebois Events Committee (V.E.C.) will host the Villebois ice cream party at 7 p.m. on Aug. 15. For more information about the Villebois Village Center, please visit: www.ChangeHowYouLive.com or call 866.580.2836.

Blog Experts Speak with Costa Pacific Homes on Creating Community Through Blogging

Kinetic Knowledge, an online technology provider that helps companies create communities through blogging, recently interviewed Andy Green, sales and marketing manager with Costa Pacific Homes, about the success he has seen through the use of this blog. Costa Pacific has included blogging and social networking at the forefront of its marketing efforts to promote its newest community, the Villebois Village Center in Wilsonville, Oregon.

Click here to read the interview or read it here:

Frerecks: “Hi Andy. Could you sum up for folks the synergies between what you’re trying to accomplish on and off line at Cost Pacific Communities?”

Green: “Sure. As a developer, our story takes us back to the days when neighborhoods were villages, not just developments built on top of each other. As a marketer, we want to blog as much Costa Pacific community information and news as possible. By touting features in our village neighborhoods, we’re creating a better sense of community for both residents and prospective buyers.”

Frerecks: “Is there anything in particular going on right now?”

Green: “Yes, the Villebois community in Wilsonville, Oregon, is already up and running. The vision for it has become even more than we ever imagined. It’s a thriving community model that can all but remove the automobile from the equation. As a transit-oriented development, our community is adjacent to the WES, Westside Express Service, commuter train. You could also get on a bike and ride to your grocery store or you can walk to church. Construction will also begin next year on a public primary school. You can quite literally live, work, play and learn in the Villebois community.”

Frerecks: “How does your blogging differentiate you as a developer and support Villebois and the Costa Pacific vision of community?

Green: “With Villebois we have designed a community that is not only sustainable from a building practice standpoint, but it is also a socially sustainable community where neighbors get to know neighbors, and tend to plan social activities on a regular basis. Our goal is to keep the lines of communication open between Costa Pacific and the residents in our community. We have found that this has been achieved exactly as we had planned through our blog.”

Frerecks: “Have your blogging efforts created better visibility for Villebois online?”

Green: “Absolutely. Not only has our blog been well received by the members in our community, but it has also increased our presence in the major search engines. Traffic has seen a month over month spike in page views, unique new visitors and, obviously, return visitors.”

Frerecks: Andy, On behalf of the Real Estate Blogsites’ audience, thanks for sharing great news and great ideas.”
