Wondering Where Some of the Villebois Sunday Market Vendors Have Gone?

September 16th, 2009 agreen Posted in Events, Farmers Market, Village Center Comments Off

strawberriesThe Villebois Sunday Market has been fortunate enough to attract a number of high-quality vendors, and with the help of Costa Pacific Communities and Arbor Custom Homes, Wilsonville, Oregon’s farmers market was able to expand onto a gravel area off Villebois Drive in the heart of the award-winning Villebois neighborhood.

Unfortunately, gravel is not wheelchair-accessible, and so the Villebois Sunday Market has had to restructure its market map, reducing the number of available spaces to vendors.

The Villebois Sunday Market is committed to standing by its founding objectives:

- To provide an informal, social gathering place in an open-air setting;
- To provide a community-building event in Wilsonville’s Villebois Village Center;
- To give the community access to a wide variety of fresh, local, in-season farm products direct from the producer; and
- To give local producers a centralized location to provide customers with a wide variety of fresh, local, in-season farm products.

This means that the Villebois Sunday Market has had to re-evaluate some of its non-farmer vendors, so that the market could make more space for farmers who sell produce. So, if you are missing a vendor who is no longer at the market, please feel free to contact the Villebois Sunday Market Manager at villeboissundaymarket@gmail.com, and she will do her best to put you into contact with the vendor you miss.

Speaking of vendors… Don’t miss the fresh strawberries that are currently for sale in the Villebois Sunday Market. Visit the United Farm booth next to Café Fratelli’s coffee stand. United Farm picks its strawberries fresh every Sunday morning before the market, so you can rest assured you are getting the very freshest fruit possible!

Take advantage of the local farmers market in the beautiful Villebois community before it closes for the winter on October 18th. For more information about the Villebois Sunday Market, visit VilleboisSundayMarket.com. You may also call 866.580.2836 or email villeboissundaymarket@gmail.com.

Villebois Retail: Shops, restaurants, office space, and cafés

August 26th, 2009 agreen Posted in Community Involvement, Farmers Market, New Stores, Properties, Village Center Comments Off

Villebois is unmatched in its commitment to community.

This commitment starts in the Villebois Village Center, the hub of the neighborhood, where a bustling mix of row homes, loft-style condominiums and retail space will embody the character of a European village.

At the heart of the neighborhood, sits Piazza Villebois – a lively plaza and dedicated community space for area residents to sit and enjoy their morning coffee, spend hours chatting with old friends or while away the afternoon on the bocce ball courts. Piazza Villebois will also be a location for popular events such as live musical entertainment, the Villebois Sunday Market and seasonal festivals.

Additionally, if you’re in the market to invest in commercial real estate in Wilsonville, Oregon, the Villebois Village Center is the prime location. Soon the neighborhood will have its own hot spots, along with commercial Villebois spaces such as offices, retail shops, restaurants, sidewalk cafés and other conveniences.

And while Villebois retail is being completed, you can find incredible places to eat in Portland, which was recently named one of the country’s best restaurant cities by The New York Times. Because Portland is such a short drive or ride away on the WES Commuter Rail, you’re always close to everything you want or need.

Oregon’s Governor Declares This Week Oregon Farmers Market Week

August 5th, 2009 agreen Posted in Community Involvement, Events, Farmers Market, Village Center Comments Off

Salem-News.com recently reported that Oregon’s Governor Ted Kulongoski has proclaimed this week (August 2nd through August 9th) to be Oregon Farmers’ Market Week. With more than 100 farmers markets operating in Oregon and 90 markets belonging to the Oregon Farmers’ Markets Association (OFMA), this new proclamation from the Governor’s Office further emphasizes the Beaver State’s growing trend toward sustainable living.

According to Salem-News.com, over the past 10 years the number of Oregon farmers markets has more than doubled. This success is due to the support and resources of OFMA. Farmers markets in Oregon provide income for more than 1,000 local family-owned farms and supply fresh produce to more than 100,000 customers each week during peak market season. Farmers markets in Oregon also help support low-income families through the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and Senior Farm Direct Coupons. They also give customers the opportunity to learn about locally grown, fresh food.

With the help of the Health Hunger Nutrition Initiative from the Governor’s Office and the Department of Human Services, more than half of Oregon’s farmers’ markets participate in the Oregon Trail Supplemental Nutrition Access Program (SNAP) program. This includes several new markets founded in 2009. According to an article by Salem-News.com, the Oregon Farmers’ Market Association’s (OFMA) mission is to sustain and promote Oregon farmers’ markets while building community support and economic stability for Oregon’s family farms, small food producers, processors and artisans. To read the full article or to watch a video of the news coverage of the Governor’s declaration, please click here.

The Villebois Sunday Market in Wilsonville, Oregon’s award-winning Villebois community was founded in 2009 and offers a variety of fresh food and Northwest-grown goods for neighbors to sample and purchase. From fresh vegetables and herbs to homemade crafts and tasty treats like kettle korn, barbeque and gelato, Wilsonville’s farmers market is a great place for local residents to shop for everything from groceries to gifts.
