Wilsonville, Oregon's Only Farmers Market

Wilsonville, Oregon's Only Farmers Market

Running May 23 through October 3, the Villebois Sunday Market offers a variety of local entertainment, seasonal produce, baked goods and other Oregon farm-fresh products.  Additionally, local artisans, florists and nursery vendors have booths at each event. The market is held in the Village Center in the heart of Wilsonville’s award-winning Villebois community.

Market Entertainment:

May 23rd AM: The Dixie Cups Coffee Appreciation Society Dixie Band are a motley collection of musicians who do not let their respectable lives get in the way of playing Dixie music. Their repertoire includes Dixie classics such as Rampart Street Blues and Just a Closer Walk with Thee, as well as Lynard Skynard’s They Call Me the Breeze and a Dixie version of Raffi’s Baby Beluga.

May 23rd PM: Michele van Kleef Michele has been singing for as long as she can remember. After piano and  voice lessons, theater and musicals through high school, she went to Oregon State University and minored in Vocal Performance.  *Michele has been one of my favorite vocalists since the mid 90’s.  You don’t want to miss her!!

Soon after graduating, she joined the very successful, NW-based Indie band Calobo. They started out playing the NW Colleges, house parties and local bars. After everyone was done with school they decided to go full time in 1994 and toured the country for the next 6 years. They played the Wetlands in NYC, House of Blues in Chicago, The Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, and the epic music festival, Bumbershoot, on the Stadium Stage in Seattle. When all was said and done, Calobo released 5 full length records, the final being recorded Live at the Crystal Ballroom in our hometown of Portland, Oregon.

After Calobo, Michele joined up with LazyBones Recordings as Mackabella in Seattle. They released the self-titled album Mackabella in 2001. Many of these songs have been placed in the TV/Film Industry. Willing has had the most placements:   a  movie trailer for the Johnny Cash story Walk the Line, and spoof of the same film, Walk Hard, among many others.  Additional recent song placements includes VH1, Fox, NBC, T-Mobile, 90210, Lifetime, MTV, South of Nowhere, and Roswell.

Michele took some time off to start a family, but is thrilled to be playing music again. She’s been focusing on her own songs that are true from her heart, sometimes funny, and she is more than ready to share them.

Wondering Where Some of the Villebois Sunday Market Vendors Have Gone?

September 16th, 2009 agreen Posted in Events, Farmers Market, Village Center Comments Off

strawberriesThe Villebois Sunday Market has been fortunate enough to attract a number of high-quality vendors, and with the help of Costa Pacific Communities and Arbor Custom Homes, Wilsonville, Oregon’s farmers market was able to expand onto a gravel area off Villebois Drive in the heart of the award-winning Villebois neighborhood.

Unfortunately, gravel is not wheelchair-accessible, and so the Villebois Sunday Market has had to restructure its market map, reducing the number of available spaces to vendors.

The Villebois Sunday Market is committed to standing by its founding objectives:

- To provide an informal, social gathering place in an open-air setting;
- To provide a community-building event in Wilsonville’s Villebois Village Center;
- To give the community access to a wide variety of fresh, local, in-season farm products direct from the producer; and
- To give local producers a centralized location to provide customers with a wide variety of fresh, local, in-season farm products.

This means that the Villebois Sunday Market has had to re-evaluate some of its non-farmer vendors, so that the market could make more space for farmers who sell produce. So, if you are missing a vendor who is no longer at the market, please feel free to contact the Villebois Sunday Market Manager at villeboissundaymarket@gmail.com, and she will do her best to put you into contact with the vendor you miss.

Speaking of vendors… Don’t miss the fresh strawberries that are currently for sale in the Villebois Sunday Market. Visit the United Farm booth next to Café Fratelli’s coffee stand. United Farm picks its strawberries fresh every Sunday morning before the market, so you can rest assured you are getting the very freshest fruit possible!

Take advantage of the local farmers market in the beautiful Villebois community before it closes for the winter on October 18th. For more information about the Villebois Sunday Market, visit VilleboisSundayMarket.com. You may also call 866.580.2836 or email villeboissundaymarket@gmail.com.

Villebois Retail: Shops, restaurants, office space, and cafés

August 26th, 2009 agreen Posted in Community Involvement, Farmers Market, New Stores, Properties, Village Center Comments Off

Villebois is unmatched in its commitment to community.

This commitment starts in the Villebois Village Center, the hub of the neighborhood, where a bustling mix of row homes, loft-style condominiums and retail space will embody the character of a European village.

At the heart of the neighborhood, sits Piazza Villebois – a lively plaza and dedicated community space for area residents to sit and enjoy their morning coffee, spend hours chatting with old friends or while away the afternoon on the bocce ball courts. Piazza Villebois will also be a location for popular events such as live musical entertainment, the Villebois Sunday Market and seasonal festivals.

Additionally, if you’re in the market to invest in commercial real estate in Wilsonville, Oregon, the Villebois Village Center is the prime location. Soon the neighborhood will have its own hot spots, along with commercial Villebois spaces such as offices, retail shops, restaurants, sidewalk cafés and other conveniences.

And while Villebois retail is being completed, you can find incredible places to eat in Portland, which was recently named one of the country’s best restaurant cities by The New York Times. Because Portland is such a short drive or ride away on the WES Commuter Rail, you’re always close to everything you want or need.

To learn more about the retail opportunities in the Villebois Village Center, click here to read a letter from Costa Pacific Communities CEO, Rudy Kadlub, developer of the Villebois neighborhood. Or call 866.580.2836 or email Blog@CostaPacific.com for additional information.
