Last week we officially broke ground on the first of approximately 650 residential condominiums and rowhomes. To the average Joe or Jane off of the street this may seem like a fairly insignificant event. You are probably thinking that new developments break ground in the Portland area every day. If you have not read one of our previous posts regarding the history of Villebois you may not understand that Villebois truly a one of a kind.

● Villebois is the largest non-resort master planned community in Oregon
● Villebois is committed to green building practices and energy conservation by requiring each home built in the community to adhere to Earth Advantage guidelines.
● Villebois Village Center and Piazza Villebois will be a destination for residents to meet for social and holiday gatherings.
● From Villebois you can walk to anywhere in the world. Just hop onto the WES (Westside Express Service) and connect with Tri Met to take you directly to the Portland International Airport.

The first building that is currently under construction will include 8 residential Row Homes. The Seville Rowhomes will range from approximately 2,000 square feet to 2,300 square feet. These homes will offer a prime location to the Village Center. The Villebois Village Center will be a bustling village center with rowhomes, loft-style condominiums, urban apartments, shops and restaurants. At the heart of the village center, there will be Piazza Villebois – an inviting plaza that will be surrounded by residences, restaurants, shops and sidewalk cafes, giving it an intimate, Old World feel. Architecture in the village center complements the design of Villebois’ homes, as reflected by these conceptual designs of the first rowhomes planned for the Village Center: The Seville Rows.

I would like to start by wishing Costa Pacific Communities a very Happy Birthday!

On April 1st we turned 18 years old. It isn’t easy to keep a business thriving in a cyclical industry like the real estate industry. We have witnessed a lot of builders and developers come and go over those 18 years and it makes us very proud to say that not only have we survived through the turbulent times but we have thrived.

Building quality new homes and communities has been an extremely rewarding experience for all of us at Costa Pacific Communities. The Portland real estate landscape has undergone a great transformation from a city that built your typical cookie cutter neighborhoods, in the late 80’s and early 90’s, to a city that is a leader nationwide in both smart development practices and the newest trend to sweep Portland and the nation, green building practices.

We are proud to have been leading the charge on both of these fronts.

A few terms that seem to get thrown around quite often are Transit Oriented Development (TOD) and Smart Growth. In the upcoming weeks and months we will share with you some of the things that we have learned from being in the trenches.
