Is a Coffee Shop Opening in the Villebois Village Center?

We’re receiving a lot of questions about when a coffee shop will be coming to the Villebois Village Center. So…if you want one so badly, why don’t you open one?

If you and a group of your friends or neighbors all pooled your money together to invest in a coffee shop, we know someone who would be willing to open it and run it for you.

If you’re interested in investing in a coffee shop in Villebois, call 866.580.2836 or email Blog@CostaPacific.com today.

  1. Really? “If you want one so badly, why don’t you open one?” Should we also start up our own farmer’s market and build our own pool?

If a bunch of neighbors who live next door to each other donated their yards and pay to have the pool built, we know some kids who would swim in it.

  2. Dear Seriously,

Maybe I should clarify this post a bit.

Since opening the Villebois Village Center Information Center I have had Villebois homeowners come in on a daily basis asking about when a coffee shop may open. Quite a few of them have considered opening one themselves but some of them may not be able to obtain the financing needed, others may not have the cash needed and still others may feel that it is an overwhelming task for one person to take on.

This is not just a community amenity like a pool or clubhouse. It is an investment opportunity and a potentially good one at that.

There are currently around 260 homeowners plus about 270 apartments in Villebois. That would make around 1,155 residents. There will eventually be 2,600 homes and approximately 7,000 residents in Villebois alone.

The area coffee shops that we have talked to feel like it may take a few more years to get enough homes in the community to support a coffee shop in Villebois. But there has been an outpouring of support from homeowners who feel differently and would strongly support a shop opening sooner.

Villebois is full of entrepreneurial and business savvy individuals who may be interested in investing in the future of our community.

We feel that we have designed one of if not the “BEST” community in America but it is the people who live here that truly make that a reality.

There will always be those who feel that the builder/developer should do it all but it is the collective community that makes this a unique place to live.

P.S. More to come really soon on the farmers market……..

  3. Coffee Hound Says:

Hey – who knows? It all has to start somewhere – and in the past it’s been in a neighborhood at a corner like Barber and Villebois Dr. Could our corner be the new “Gourmet Ghetto”?! Check out this from Peet’s Coffee web site:

On the day Alfred Peet opened his first coffee store on the corner of Walnut and Vine Streets in Berkeley, CA, he quietly began a revolution in the way Americans experienced the taste and quality of their coffee – a revolution that persists to this day.

Born in Holland, Alfred Peet grew up in the coffee trade and moved to America after World War II. Appalled at the poor quality of coffee being consumed by Americans, he became inspired to open the first Peet’s Coffee & Tea store on April 1, 1966. His style of coffee was a radical departure from what was then available, emphasizing smaller batches, freshness, superior quality beans, and a darker roasting style that produced coffee with richness and complexity.

By 1969, Peet’s Coffee & Tea became a gathering place for coffee devotees, and this success attracted other artisan food purveyors to the neighborhood, which soon became known as the Gourmet Ghetto. Alfred Peet further catalyzed the specialty coffee movement when he mentored and inspired a generation of coffee entrepreneurs, including the founders of Starbucks, whom he supplied with Peet’s roasted beans during their first years of operation.

  4. Re: The Farmer’s Market

A friend of mine and myself are both interested in possibly having a booth. Where can I get more info?

Also, playdates have been mentioned in a few things, but I can’t find any info. Being a SAHM, it would be nice to get to know other moms and children in the area. Maybe a group on MeetUp.com just for Villebois residents?

    Thank you.
